Winter Workshops at the Caregiver Hub

Published January 17, 2022

The Richmond Family & Friend Caregiver Hub has hit the new year running, with multiple workshops scheduled every week throughout January and February.

While the original plan was to host some of them in person, Omicron had other ideas, so everything has once again been moved online. But even virtually, the sessions promise to be fun, engaging, and informative. Here are some of the highlights:

Advance Care Planning | January 25

For caregivers and their loved ones, there's no time like the present to plan for the future. In this session, registered Nurses Denise Perron and Fiona Siebert will discuss the importance of Advance Care Planning, and how you can involve your loved one in decisions about their health and care. Register Online

Finger Knitting | February 2

Sing it with us!

(To the tune of These Boots Are Made for Walkin')

These fingers are made for knitting
And that's just what they'll do
One of these days these fingers will knit a lovely scarf for you

We think Nancy Sinatra would approve of the updated lyrics! But yes, this is a session on finger knitting, a wonderful hobby that also promotes brain health and helps sharpen your focus. You can use your own yarn, or stop by our office to pick up a free skein. The session will be presented in English, with Spanish translation available upon request. Register Online

Mental Wellness | Three Sessions, February 3, 10 & 17

Caregivers take on countless responsibilities, and the weight on their shoulders can lead to stress, anxiety, burnout, and other mental health challenges. This is especially true during the pandemic, when many caregivers have become isolated from their support networks. In this three-part series, you'll learn strategies for managing and monitoring your own mental wellbeing. You'll also get information on mental health resources available in the community.
