What is the position?

Social Prescribing Volunteers help seniors access programs and community resources that support their health, well-being, and independence. Working alongside our Community Connector staff, volunteers help bridge the gap between seniors and local services by encouraging social connection and community engagement. Volunteers begin each shift at the office, where they meet with the Community Connector before traveling by bus to pick up seniors from their homes. They then accompany the group to a local seniors' centre, engaging with seniors during the journey and throughout a shared social meal. Volunteers may also assist with serving meals, helping seniors register for community programs and activities, and providing friendly support throughout the outing.

  • Help to foster a welcoming environment
  • Attend social programs in conjunction with the City of Richmond
