Provides one-on-one and group support, counselling, and advocacy services to people living with HIV and AIDS. Offers support to their family members, partners, and friends. Also provides grocery assistance and supplementary health programs for Richmond residents.
The Heart of Richmond AIDS Society is a local grassroots not-for-profit organisation and is recruiting active board members with relevant experience & community focus.
Mandate: To reduce the impact of HIV/AIDS on individuals and our community through support, prevention and education
Issues Facing the Board: The Board needs to increase in size with persons having energy, time and fresh ideas. Skills currently needed by the board include fundraising and event management in particular.
Board Member Required Characteristics:
1. Past experience: Fundraising, Charitable governance/administration, Financial or non-profit experience will be considered strong assets (however not mandatory)
2. Ability to: listen, analyze, think clearly and creatively, work well with people individually and in a group.
3. Willing to: prepare for and attend board and committee meetings, ask questions, take responsibility and follow through on given assignments.
4. Possess: accountability, integrity, honesty, concern for the mission and future of The Heart of Richmond.
