Richmond Christmas Fund Ready for Festive, Fun-Filled Week

Published November 12, 2024

We've had it marked on our calendar for months: the week of November 18. It's when the Richmond Christmas Fund season truly begins.

We're excited and, admittedly, a little nervous. This may be the program's 92nd year, but if there's one thing we've learned, it's to expect the unexpected. No two Christmas Fund seasons are alike.

We do know, however, that our community will display incredible generosity, allowing the Christmas Fund to brighten the holidays for thousands of our neighbours in need.

Now, back to that busy week. It kicks off November 19, with the start of the Christmas Fund's 5th Annual Online Auction. As always, you can expect amazing deals on restaurant gift cards, home appliances, bottles of wine, and more. There are even some unique handmade items, like this vase donated by the Richmond Potters Club.

Bidding will remain open until 5:00pm on December 5, but of course, it's worth registering early, so you'll have an inside track on your favourite items. Sign up today, and get ready to place your bids!

If you'd prefer to support the Christmas Fund in person, there's no better opportunity than the 10th Annual Richmond RCMP Toy Drive!

Happening November 23, from 9:00am to 2:00pm in the Lansdowne Centre parking lot, this year's milestone event will feature festive, family-friendly activities, photos with Santa, and an epic ball hockey game, with members of the Richmond Sockeyes & Richmond RCMP facing off against local VIPs.

The main highlight, though, is you! Bring a new, unwrapped toy for the Christmas Fund, or make a minimum $10 donation, and you'll receive a mouthwatering bag of mini donuts, along with a ticket to a Richmond Sockeyes game (while supplies last). Now that's a reason to break out your best celly!

Finally, for those seeking help this holiday season, Christmas Fund registration begins November 23 (yes, the same day as the toy drive). After a year at Lansdowne Centre, we've returned to the Richmond Caring Place, where we'll be distributing grocery vouchers, toys, and gift cards to qualifying households.

Registration will continue each of the following Saturdays, before concluding on December 14. More information, including a complete list of eligibility criteria, is available on our website.

And with that, we embark on another Christmas Fund season, with a promise to ensure that everyone can share in the holiday spirit.
