Spotlight: Caregivers Network for East Kootenay Seniors

Published March 29, 2021

This week, I want to let you know about a great resource for caregivers. We try to provide Richmond caregivers with local resources on this website, but this one is just so brilliant we had to write about them.

For over 20 years, Caregivers Network for East Kootenay Seniors has been supporting caregivers by offering support groups and creating resource materials for caregiver self-care. Only when we first help ourselves can we effectively help others. Caring for yourself is one of the most important—and one of the most often forgotten—things you can do as a caregiver. When your needs are taken care of, the person you care for will benefit, too.

One of the reasons why we reached out to Caregivers Network for East Kootenay Seniors in the first place was because, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, they created and delivered 200 mental health and wellness care packages to caregivers in their community. Resources in the care packages included an Organizational Tool for Caregivers, a Caregivers Self-care Workbook, and a Caregiver Colouring Book that promotes mindfulness. All of these, and more, are available for download from their website: https://www.caregiversnetworkek.com/.

We have also purchased limited copies of these resource booklets. If you would like one, please contact us at 604-279-7020 or email caregivernavigator@rcrg.org
